Mr. Over/Under: Detroit -3.5 over Washington
This is the time of year I begin to look at weather forecasts before I consider making a bet, especially if an indoor team is playing at an outdoor stadium. By the way, do you know what NFL team has had to reschedule or move a home game to a different location, the most times, due to weather? I’ll give you the answer at the end of my pick. Detroit has averaged 24.4 points per game this year. Washington has averaged 12.5 points per game. The Redskins only victory was by one-point over Miami. The forecast calls for temps near 50 with no rain on Sunday. If a team averages more than 10 points per game, and the odds makers only want you to give 3.5, then I’ll take the higher scoring team. I like Detroit –3.5. The NFL team that has had to move or reschedule their games the most, due to weather, is Miami.
Man in Stripes: Seattle +3 over Philadelphia
Normally I go with the more desperate team, but here I see a beaten, injured and tired team just about ready to be eliminated. The Eagles have played hard this year, I think injuries and lots of football over the past 3 years has caught up to them. No Desean Jackson, no Darren Sproles, Carson Wentz has struggled.. For the Seahawks, they have won 3 in a row, coming off a bye, where normally Pete Carroll is money, the Seahawks are 8-4 ats as road dogs in last 12. Leading MVP Russell Wilson seems to be on a mission. They put a nail in the Eagles coffin in Philly, where the boobirds will be out.
Mono: Penn State +18.5 over Ohio State
Penn State’s loss to Minnesota killed their playoff chances, especially with Minnesota losing to Iowa last week. Historically this game is always competitive regardless of implications. Ohio State is at home and the better team but I believe Penn State has the shot to be the playoff buster. This year could be super interesting for the committee. I think Penn State has a chance to win outright but the points are too much to pass up.
Brutal: Winnipeg +4 over Hamilton
The 107th Grey Cup. A little more than the Super Bowl. These are the two best offenses in the league. This is unbelievable revenge for Winnipeg QB Zach Collaros. He’s playing the team he spent most of his career with. The game is in the West in Calgary. Winnipeg ends the longest drought in the CFL. The Bluebombers haven’t won a Grey Cup since 1990. We will take the home of Monty Hall, Burton Cummings, and Neil Young.
Bob Gaughan: Buffalo -4 over Denver
This line is total disrespect for the Bills. The Bills are at home and only a 4-point favorite over a 3-7 Denver team coming in. Brandon Allen is making only his third career start. I’m not a huge fan of Allen against a good Bills defense. This is the second straight road game for the Broncos. They blew a big lead last week in Minnesota. I can’t see this Denver offense scoring more than 17 points in Buffalo. Von Miller isn’t the same player he was a few years ago. I see he Bills being able to score more than 20 at home.
