Our first Buffalo Sports Page/Southtowns Trophy Athlete of the Week for the 2018 fall season is Barker field hockey player Katrina Clare.

A junior, Katrina is a co-captain of the team and one of the Lady Raiders top scorers.  She had three goals in a game last week against Nichols, two in a win over Wilson and two more in the season opener.

Last season, Katrina was a first team All-WNY player.

She was nominated by Barker’s Jeff Costello, who said of Katrina:

She is a dedicated athlete who excels on and off the field and puts in time in the off-season with USA Field Hockey Futures, the WNY Whalers Club team and with her Barker teammates. She is also a fixture in the weight room year round. Katrina leads by example with her work ethic and her love of the game. She competes in practice and raises the level of intensity with her teammates on a daily basis. Katrina also encourages her teammates and has great knowledge of the game and offers suggestions on how to make all those around her better.”

The Buffalo Sports Page Athlete of the Week award is open to any boy or girl from the ages of 8-19 who excels in any sport.  They receive a trophy from Southtowns Trophy in Orchard Park.

Nominations can be made here.
