Fantasy Football Week 5

by JK Karlson, Buffalo Sports Page

Week 5-The first week of the season where players on a BYE can present possible issues on your roster.

Not forgetting the hurricane-induced Week 1 BYE that Tampa Bay and Miami had to take unexpectedly, of course.

Our first officially planned BYE week can bring some complications. Injured players taking roster spots could present an issue when you need to move benched players into starting positions for Week 5. BUT – be careful not to drop injured impact players who are expected to come back later in the season.

Having an injured player on the bench when you need to fill that starter spot can be frustrating. Your choices also depend on what’s available in your league. Most important move – be sure you think long term – picking up a player to fill a spot for one week may not be worth dropping an injured proven player, or one who could ball out in later weeks.

My advice this week comes in the form of some injured players that you do NOT want to drop:
Michael Crabtree, David Johnson (he may be back when you need him most!), Willie Snead, Greg Olsen, Ty Montgomery (he may not miss this week, but playing with broken ribs may not yield the best for your team’s point totals).
