For the first time in school history, Pioneer has a Connolly Cup winner. Running back/linebacker Mike Rigerman won the 47th annual award on Saturday. The winner was announced at the annual banquet at Ilio DiPaolo’s Restaurant in Blasdell.
Rigerman was a dominant player this season. He ran for 2,116 yards and 29 touchdowns. Rigerman for for over 200 yards in a game five times. He scored five touchdowns twice. Against Maryvale, Rigerman ran for 320 yards.
The Panthers finished 9-1 this season.
Rigerman was one of ten finalists for the award, given to WNY’s best high school football player.
Mike is hoping to continue his football career in college, and list UB as his first choice.
