Mr. Over/Under: Bills money Line over the Jets

If you’ve followed my picks the last few years, you know that I never recommend you place a bet during Week 1 or Week 17 of the NFL season. This year, with no preseason games, there are way too many questions about the effect players, who have switched teams, and draft picks will have. We don’t know what we haven’t seen. However most experts will tell you that defenses are better prepared for Week One than the offense. Therefore usually an under pick in Week One is better than an over pick, although last year in Week One, it went 9-7 in favor of the offense. I like the Bills/Jets under 39, but I like the Bills to win outright better. So I’m putting my Money Line bet of $280 on the Bills to win outright. BONUS PICKS: Cowboys & Vikings cover.

Man in Stripes: Bills -6.5 over the Jets

The NFL in 2020, like everything else in the world its different. With no OTA’s or preseason games continuity will be key. The Bills have the advantage over most in this area. With most of the starters back and the additions of Diggs and Moss to the offense the skills positions are as good as they been in a long time. It’s time for Josh Allen to get to the next level. The Jets are a mess with four new starters on the offensive line. Sam Darnold has few weapons and Le’Veon Bell is at the end of his career. Adam Gase is going to have a long year and it starts on Sunday.

Mono: Saints -3.5 over Bucs

Tom Brady looking to prove he can do something without Bill Belichick. The Bucs have a lot of new faces and without a preseason I expect there to be a bit of an adjustment period for those guys on offense. New Orleans is the complete opposite. They’ve been together for sometime. The new addition of Emanuel Sanders will take the load off of Michael Thomas. Brees shows Brady the division still belongs to him.

Brutal: Cincinnati +3 over Chargers

Always like taking a home team getting points when it’s at least a field goal. Bengals will be an improved team this year. Count me as one that believes that Joe Burrow will be a very good pro. He has looked good in workouts according to all reports. The Chargers are never a team that I can count on, especially on the road. You also get the benefit of the West Coast team traveling east for a one o’clock game. AJ Green is healthy at least for this gme and I believe the Bengals offensive line will be a little better this year.

Bob Gaughan: New England and Miami under 42.5

In general the defenses are better than offenses early in the season. This season that should be compounded considering there have been no OTA’s or preseason games. Offense is so much about timing and I just don’t see that happening across the league. In this match-up you have two very good defensive coaches in Belichick and Brian Flores. Flores knows the New England system. The Dolphins upset New England at the end of last season. I see this as being a close game where points are at a premium. I thought this over/under would be in the 30’s. It started off at 43 and I expect it to go down further before kick-off.
