Weekly Record 8-5-2, Overall Record 52-35-2

MR. OVER/UNDER: Dallas -7 over Tampa Bay

I’ve always felt the last 2-weeks of the NFL season are just as difficult to pick winners as the first 2-weeks are. There’s the so called, “Must Win Games” and the “We’re out of it” games. Remember what happened to Baltimore’s  “Must Win” game against Cincinnati last year in week 17? This may not totally be a must win game for Dallas, but it certainly is a should win game. So the question is, will they cover the spread? The answer is, they should. Take Dallas –7.

Man in Stripes: UB/Troy over 49.5

Sometimes numbers don’t lie.  These two teams combined are 16-9 on the over this year. Only 2 of 13 UB games this year has the total been under 50. Both teams average in the mid 30’s in scoring points per game. Both teams are healthy and the weather should be great.  The number is too low, play the over and root for the Bulls.

Mono: Chicago -4 over San Francisco

San Francisco had their big win last week of their rival Seattle.  That was their first win at home against Seattle since 2013.  Chicago is on a roll and I expect them to show up and shutdown the SF offense.  Bears have a lot to play for since they can still get the number 2 seed in the NFC. Bears defense is for real.

Slick: Chargers -4 over Ravens

I think the Chargers are a legit Super Bowl contender. With their win against KC last week they still can win the AFC West. Rivers looks better than ever and their defense is finally looking healthy and scary. I can’t see Lamar Jackson and his limited ability to throw the ball winning this game on the road against the Chargers.  Ravens simply won’t be able to keep up with Rivers.

Mr. Brutal: Army -4.5 over Houston

A ton of military people will be at the game.  Houston fired their defensive coordinator form their bad defense.  Ed Oliver their star DT doesn’t want to get cut blocked all day so he is sitting out.  Houston isn’t motivated to play Army, everyone will be rooting for Army unless your a Houston alum.  This is a big defensive contractors bowl.  Many linked to armed forces.  Army always shows up and is always disciplined.

Bob Gaughan: Army -4.5 over Houston (Double Down)

I’m a big believer in the Black Knights this year.  Team is 10-2 and their two losses were opening day to a good Duke team and in overtime to Oklahoma.  I saw them beat a good UB team and they have quality wins over bowl teams Hawaii, Eastern Michigan and bowl eligible Miami Ohio. Houston’s defense is poor.  They’ve given up over 35 points in half their games. Army will control the ball and the clock. Black Knights defense is under-rated.  This is a team that held Oklahoma to 28 points. Big crowd expected and I think they see Army win by double digits.
