Every year, Bob Gaughan & Mr. Brutal engage in a cross border competition of picking each week’s NFL games against each other with unknown, yet very high stakes on the line for the year end.

Los Angeles Rams NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (-3.5)  57

Commander of all personnel decisions & Unabomber head coach Jon Gruden of the Oakland cum Las Vegas Raiders not only helped the Bears & Cowgirls get into the playoffs this year by trading LB Khalil Mack & WR Amari Cooper respectively; he also gave the Rams a late season rushing compliment to RB Todd Gurley in the form of C.J. Anderson, the second coming of Don Nottingham.  Both running backs gained over 100 yards last week in the win over Dallas.

We think this game will be a little lower scoring than people expect.  The “Under” beckons!  Both teams like to run and their passing games have been well under par late in the year.  Couple that with CB Aqib Talib’s return for Los Angeles and the Saints’ best wide receiver, Michael Thomas should be kept in check.  With three and the hook, we like the Rams in a close game.

  Mr. Brutal:  Rams +3.5
           Bob: Rams+3.5

New England Patriots @ KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (-3)  56

Our abject hatred of the Patriots knows no boundaries of logic.  We despise them despite the fact we have picked them half the year to cover and have generally been right.  However, we never received any satisfaction from the small comfort of picking them correctly.

Here we are in the AFC Conference final and our logic, sentiment, heart and aspirations are finally all in line:  The exorcism is nigh.  In the freezing cold of western Missouri, the Kansas City Chiefs will annihilate the nauseating Boston Traitors and  start the final unwinding of the unholy football alliance of the three B’s:  Belichik, Brady & Beelzebub that has poisoned the NFL for over a decade and a half.

 Mr. Brutal:  CHIEFS (-3)

          Bob: Patriots +3

   Last Week:  Mr. Brutal:  2-2

                                Bob:  1-3

Note:  Bob Gaughan has officially, mathematically, figuratively and literally been eliminated from winning the War of 1812 competition this year after last week’s dismal effort.  We expect payment in full via a five course meal featuring Chateaubriand at the best steakhouse in Niagara Falls Ontario in the coming months.
  Year-to-Date:  Mr. Brutal:  108-112-8
    Bob:  101-119-8
