Week 6 Fantasy Football Update
by JK Karlson
The injuries are piling up, just ask the New York Giants. At this point in the fantasy season it’s all about making the best choices (don’t keep Odell Beckham, Jr. on your roster, he’s having ankle surgery – he’s not coming back). If you want to be a winner, you have to check the waiver wire and set your rosters on Tuesday. This game takes time and dedication – those players aren’t going to be able to win this without their expert coach (that’s you!) making all the right moves. You wait until Thursday and you’ll be left with slim pickens after injuries, BYE weeks, and “that guy” who is on track with his Tuesday morning roster adjusting.
This Week’s Rankings
*Note: Alex Smith is the leading fantasy points QB this season through Week 5. Though I still feel Smith is unreliable he seems determined to prove me wrong this year. You’d be wrong to sit a QB with a close to 80% pass rate and over 30 fantasy points in 3 out of 5 games. - You should also play Phillip Rivers this week – and every other week.
*Note: Brandin Cooks and Devante Adams easily make this list if I didn’t limit it to 10. I don’t like doubling up on receivers from the same team, unless your other wide receiver choices are clearly not on par as No. 1s (which Adams and Cooks definitely are). -Also watch for Sterling Shepard (currently Questionable). With Odell Beckham, Jr. and Brandon Marshall out, there’s no one left for Eli Manning to throw to (not that it will likely improve the Giants’ record anyway) but someone has to score points.
*Note: Jesse James is declining, along with the rest of the Pittsburgh Steelers team. Only play him if you have injury issues or your #1 is on a bye week.
Don’t play the Patriots D, they are far too flakey to rely on this season.
