Stone Cold Locks By Bob Gaughan 2023 Record 30-27-1 2022 Record 68-41-2 2021 record 62-49 2020 record 52-52-4 2019 Record 62-41-2 2018 Record 72-50-3 Total: 346-260-12=57% Mr. Over/Under: Colts -1.5 over New England What’s happened to the offense in the NFL? Last week only 3 of the 14-games went over and over 60% of the games have gone under this year. Previously high scoring teams, like the Bills & the Chiefs have only gone over 3 of their nine games. By the way, every game that’s been played in Europe this year has gone under. I’m looking at the final European game this week. The Colts are favored by 1.5 over the Patriots. Surprisingly, Indy has scored at least 20-points in every game they’ve played this year. New England has scored at least 20-points only twice, and were shut out by New Orleans 34-0. Indy isn’t a good team, but New England is a bad team. I like the Colts -1.5 Man in Stripes: Air Force -18.5 over Hawaii We will head to the 50thstate and the last game on the board to try to stay hot. Simply put this is the wrong place at the wrong time for the Rainbows. The Falcons should be ticked off after having their perfect season go up in flames last week when the played a stinker against Army. They lead college football in rushing averaging 284 yards per game. Teams struggle against this rushing attack. Hawaii is not good against the run giving up 180 yards per game. Many teams go out to Hawaii and enjoy the setting and everything that goes along with it. Air Force will be all business and should run all over Hawaii. Take Air Force in a blow out to cover the big number. Mono: Penn State +4.5 over Michigan The Nittany Lions played a real dud against Ohio State earlier this year. Their defense showed up but the offense is not very good. The difference here is they’ll be in Beaver stadium in front of a raucous crowd. A noon kick-off and the season on the line (playoff hopes anyways). I hate backing James Franklin especially in this spot but let’s be honest, who the hell has Michigan played? You can only play who you’re scheduled but this year seems egregious. With all the distractions, this Michigan team could go in and blow the doors off Penn State. But I don’t see that happening. Penn State sports a strong defensive front, good linebackers and an even stronger secondary. This game should be slow with both teams stacking the box and employing a run game. I like Franklin and Penn State to keep this one within the number behind Manny Diaz and their top 10 defense. Brutal: Toronto -9 over Montreal Eastern Conference Final CFL Buffalo’s own Chad Kelly is the starting QB for the Argos. He’s better than most back-ups in the NFL and maybe a few starters. Argos clinched about 6 weeks ago and they rested players on and off. Small Stadium Argos play in will be a sell out. There will be only about 30,000 people at the game. Argos won the Grey Cup last year and I think they’re better this year. They went 16-2 this year and were the dominant team in the league. Let’s roll with the best team in the league to make it to another Grey Cup. Philly: Kentucky +11 over Alabama Kentucky has faced multiple mobile quarterbacks and I expect this team to be ready for Milroe and the Tide offense. Devin Leary is finally healthy and I expect him to be able to keep it close against a tough Alabama defense. Ray Davis is one of the best RB in the country and has been able to carry this Wildcat offense. I am not sure Kentucky has enough to win the game but I expect them to keep it close with this early noon kickoff at home. Bob: Seattle -6.5 over Washington Seattle looked awful last week in Baltimore. They go home and usually good teams get well when they go home. Washington is playing consecutive road games. The Commanders won last week in New England. This will be a different game in the Pacific Northwest. The Commanders gutted their defensive line at the trade deadline getting rid of Chase Young and Montez Sweat. It hurts them this week against a Seattle offense looking to bounce back after gaining only 151 yards last week in Baltimore. This is a classic buy low, sell high situation. We buy low on the Seahawks and sell high on the Commanders.
